Clockwork Girl's Kevin Hanna kickstarts Creature Academy

The authors of one of my favorite graphic novels, (Clockwork girl), are at it again! I'll be talking more about Clockwork girl later for now I'm excited to announce Clockwork Girl's Kevin Hanna kickstarts Creature Academy, a new Steampunk Fantasy!

One of the contributors, David Fagan was telling me about Creature Academy and said "I really hope female steampunk fans will respond to the girl characters in Creature Academy, because they're not cheerleaders, girlfriends or sidekicks and they don't wear spandex. They're just regular girls---with scary powers---who fight evil. Kind of like the girls I was friends with in junior high."

If that doesn't sell you on Creature Academy I don't know what will! Oh yeah, maybe the awesome art work, by comic veteran Grant Bond! Below is the press release...

Creature Academy: The Legacy, a new steampunk fantasy adventure comic, launches its Kickstarter campaign this month---to tell an edgy tale about kids and their magical creatures teaming up to fight the evil forces that kidnapped their parents.

Wes Mendes, 14, has lived his whole life on the run with his mom. When she gets kidnapped by evil forces, they come for him next. So he must hide in an underground city where human and magic worlds collide. There Wes joins a team of kids and their magical creatures, at a school like no other. He finds his own magical creature and leads the team on a dangerous quest to destroy the evil and save their parents.

Creator Kevin Hanna and artist Grant Bond are comic book veterans who collaborated on the best-selling steampunk graphic novel The Clockwork Girl. But the world of Creature Academy is both more realistic and more magical. The young heroes of Creature Academy fight evil alongside mythical creatures such as: grigs, hippogriffs, basilisks, manticores and leviathans. There's even the world's first steampunk unicorn, with fiery eyes and armor plating---a creature that doesn't want to hear your "My Little Pony" jokes, ever.

Creature Academy's creator, Kevin Hanna, does art for animation, comics and video games, and is best known for the award-winning graphic novel The Clockwork Girl and the Web comic, Frogchildren. He also directed the full-length feature film of The Clockwork Girl premiering in 2013.
Creature Academy's lead artist/colors, Grant Bond, works with Kevin Hanna for the first time since The Clockwork Girl. Bond's other comics art credits include DC’s Trick ‘r Treat and The Adventures of Archibald Aardvark from Image Comics.
